Lecture Overview
This lecture series consists of two sessions. The first session will focus on analyzing the structure, scope, target content, and sample papers of Nature and its portfolio journals, while also briefly introducing key points in manuscript writing.
The second session will provide an in-depth discussion of manuscript writing techniques, storyline development and topic selection, key points for writing each section of a paper, and ways to strengthen the significance of a study. It will also introduce matters to note when submitting a paper and what to do after submission, including after acceptance and rebuttal after rejection.
Speaker Bio
Yang Xia received her PhD in ecological economics from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. She is currently a Senior Scientific Editor at Nature and previously served as a Senior Scientific Editor at Nature Communications from 2017 to 2020. She is the first full-time Chinese social sciences editor in Nature's 150-year history. As the only social sciences editor for the two journals, she is responsible for reviewing manuscripts related to climate change economics, energy economics, climate change policy, sustainable development, and socioeconomic issues. With ten years of experience in the United Kingdom, she has focused on interdisciplinary research on natural disasters, health risks, and socioeconomic impacts, and has published multiple high-impact SCI papers.
