[CEADs Event Preview] COP27 Side Event: Global Challenges and Opportunities for Carbon Neutrality Transitions
Global Challenges and Opportunities for Carbon Neutrality Transitions
Workshop
Thursday, November 17, 2022, 13:30-15:00
China Pavilion, Zone C, Main Conference Room
Abstract
This side event will bring together representatives from government, media, universities, research institutions, NGOs, and other organizations to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing countries worldwide, especially emerging economies, as they pursue carbon peaking and carbon neutrality transitions under the dual pressure of global climate action goals and domestic economic development. To better understand global carbon emissions trends, future global climate governance needs to be built on comprehensive data and to focus jointly on countries, sectors, and regions with substantial emissions potential. Multiple teams organized by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University have made rapid progress in developing foundational data for global multi-scale carbon emissions research, aiming to provide scientific and technological support for global climate response, global carbon neutrality transitions, and emissions reduction actions, especially South-South cooperation. This side event is co-hosted by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University and the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University.
