CEADs Call for Applications: 2019 Applied Energy Summer School

The call for applications is now open for the 2019 Applied Energy Summer School, themed "Cities and Sustainable Development: Environment-Energy-Economy Coupling". The summer school is jointly organized by the CEADs team, Applied Energy, Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, the Applied Energy Innovation Institute, and several UK universities. Students from universities and research institutes are warmly invited to apply.

The Applied Energy Summer School has been held successfully for three years. Through coursework, teamwork, and related activities, it provides an academic platform for young scholars and experts to communicate and collaborate. The 2019 Summer School will focus on urban sustainable development and examine the coupled relationships among urban environments, natural resources, and economic development. Participants will work in groups to study sustainable development issues in specific cities and explore the coupling of urban-scale environmental governance, natural resource management, and economic development. The summer school will also invite experts and scholars from China and abroad to give keynote lectures.

How to Apply

Students interested in attending should submit a CV and one representative paper by email to Jing Tian (J.Tian@uea.ac.uk) by May 31, 2019. Admission notices will be issued on June 15, 2019. Around 70 places are available.

Dates: July 18, 2019 - July 27, 2019

Venue: East Hall, School of Environment, Tsinghua University (Beijing)

Accommodation: The organizers will reserve standard rooms at Tsinghua Yuan Jiasuo and Jinchunyuan, at RMB 299 per person per night (shared by two people). Check-in is available after 12:00 p.m. on July 17, and check-out should be completed before 12:00 p.m. on July 28. For safety reasons, participants from outside Beijing are generally not expected to arrange off-campus accommodation on their own. To issue Tsinghua University dining cards, the organizers will collect a RMB 20 dining-card deposit from admitted participants; the deposit will be refunded when the card is returned after the summer school.
