Call for Applicants

In September 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed that China would further increase its nationally determined contributions, strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, and work toward achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.

Achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality is a solemn commitment made by China to the world, and an important step in the global response to climate change. Ultimately, the realization of the dual-carbon goals depends on the support and development of talent in this field. China’s young generation is large in number, energetic, and independent in thought. They are the new generation entrusted with the mission of national development, the builders and successors of socialism, and the main force that will drive the achievement of the dual-carbon goals in the future. Therefore, cultivating and preparing young talent in the dual-carbon field is a necessary condition for China to achieve the 3060 goals.

Since 2016, the CEADs team has successfully hosted four carbon accounting summer camps, which have received wide attention and strong support from policymakers, administrators, researchers, and young scholars at home and abroad, and their influence in government and academic circles has continued to grow. To steadily advance carbon peaking actions and empower young people with insight and leadership in climate mitigation, the CEADs team will continue hosting the fifth Summer Camp this summer. By organizing a training curriculum system with academicians, experts, and scholars from China and abroad, we will provide systematic guidance in carbon accounting methodologies, practical guidelines, and case-based teaching, and build an academic platform for exchange and collaboration in carbon accounting, thereby cultivating interdisciplinary talent with strong professional expertise and practical ability for the 3060 carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
