Project Overview
Dr. Jiamin Qu (tenure-track assistant professor) is recruiting PhD candidates for Fall 2023 through the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University.
Research direction: sustainable consumption behavior at the individual and household levels, starting from gender differences and combining input-output models, sociological theory, and behavioral experiments in an interdisciplinary project.
Compensation: EUR 2,500-3,300 per month, paid over 14 months each year.
Supervisors: In addition to Dr. Qu, the other two supervisors are Tanja van der Lippe, a renowned Dutch sociologist and winner of the 2022 Stevin Prize, the highest honor in Dutch academia, and environmental psychologist Naomi Ellemers.

Supervisor Profile
Dr. Jiamin Qu
Dr. Qu is currently an assistant professor at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She received degrees from the University of East Anglia, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and South China University of Technology. Her research covers emissions accounting for production-side and consumption-side pollutants, sustainable consumption behavior models, and intervention policies. She has published more than 20 papers in journals including Joule, Nature Communications, Nature Sustainability, Environmental Science & Technology, and Applied Energy. She received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, was selected for the 2018 IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program and received the Mikhalevich Award, and won the 2020 Green Talents Award from Germany Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
